Big Space
The universe is a pretty big space. It's bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So, if it's just us, seems like an awful waste of space, right? Carl Sagan
I remember hearing a similar quote. In searching I found this one: “Our sun is one of 100 billion stars in our galaxy. Our galaxy is one of billions of galaxies populating the universe. It would be the height of presumption to think that we are the only living things in that enormous immensity.” Werner von Braun quotes

I don't remember who, but I always liked the reply to "Do you think there's life out there?" "I'd hate to think we're all alone in this big universe."

I read a joke that suggested if there was life on other planets there was a damn good reason why they never visited Earth.
